Re: What's Modern Kilt Wear> ...or...what's this subforum really about?
hmmm....
Late to the game. I used to come here often (not so much any more). I live in Colorado where formal means your cleanest jeans. I have a very long beard so my formal Saxon dress is a mandarin collar or a wingtip collar with a bolo tie. A bow tie would be silly. When I kilt up...same deal. So, even though I wear tartan, a traditional sporran, kilt pin etc... Modern or Modernist is how I identify. BTW, my "go to" kilt is a Celtic Croft Phillabeag... go figure

Re: What's Modern Kilt Wear> ...or...what's this subforum really about?
Ultimatly it's your own opinion of what is trad and what is modern. After reading all of the post that have come before this one that I am typing.....It's just sad how juvinile some of us sound. As though our opinions are hard fact. They are not. They are opinions and if you have a hard time understanding what an opinion is and cannot be polite about it or overly sensitive when someone disagrees with you than it is my opinion that your parents failed in your upbringing.
More to the point. Who else would agree that traditional and Victorian are usualy found hand in hand strolling about the streets? Well Victorian and before. Where as modern seems to be anywhere from slightly dressed down to 80's/90's punk or paddy rock. The Real MacKenzies would be a good source for what I'm attempting to get at. What do you all think? If I'm out there as far as my opinion on the subject is....oh well wouldn't be a first time and it won't be the last. I just don't admit it when my wife is around.
