The bottom end of her skirt would be the makings of a lovely tartan!

Agree, but is actually the apron. I find it interesting that design similar to tartan is used in the Nordlandsbunad (costume from our district, which was voted most beautiful national/regional costume last year).
The various regions have their own designs - not just a variation in pattern/colouring as with regional kilts, but totally different in cut, accessories etc. The emerging of the modern Norwegian national/regional costumes are part of the national romanticism, and coincides with the development of the modern (traditional) kilt. It is quite usual for women to own a costume, but not many men have/wear, even though there is a male version of the costumes too.

Oops, apron!
Of course I meant apron!
The bottom of the skirt would have made a strangely floral kilt!
Unnskyld!

Should be straightforward unless you are arriving at Prestwick late at night. Take a Carlisle or Newcastle train direct from Prestwick Airport to Dumfries. Or take a Kilmarnock or Glasgow via Kilmarnock train to Kilmarnock and change trains at Kilmarnock.

Prestwick can't be that much harder.
Of course with all the stuff I intend David to buy me at Anderson's I may need a car and FedEX to get it home.
WHO OR WHAT IS ANDERSON'S
