Not a problem and you would usually be right in that a Dukedom is normally conferred upon sons of the Monarch at marriage. Several vacant royal dukedoms would have been available when he married but the intention was announced he will take over the Dukedom of Edinburgh once it "reverts to the Crown" i.e. on the demise of the current holder.

I don't think the event has happened yet. We are just putting the pressure on old Jim in a very nice way. I mean to say he really needs to prepare himself for the major disappointment of the Earl's attire not being er Scottish! He He He
