That joke was a real gut buster.
I'll be wearing my kilt on the 17th, because I have to work that day, which is sad, since there is a lot of beer on that day to drink, and I won't be there to help you lads with it. But the reason I'm wearing my kilt that day, is because I'm working, and at my place of work, it's practical and comfortable. If I weren't working, and I were out helping you lads store the stout, I'd be wearing my kilt, because, well, it's comfortable and practical for such work.
Just remember, just because you're partying and having a lot of beer, is no excuse to get drunk off your bum and wake up next to some lass the next morning. It's not to say that you shouldn't, it's just to say that it's not really an excuse, even if you use it as one.
Slainte and happy St. Patrick's Day!
"Lads, we're outnumbered, surrounded, and will all likely die tomorrow, but I have good news!"
"I just found a bunch of whiskey in the castle cellar!"

I still think I'll get a leine and brat along with some crude leather sandals and a crook stick for next year on the seventeenth...
So I can choose not to wear them.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I'm surprised at how lucky most of you guys are by being able to wear your kilts to work. It's a definite no go where I work. On Monday, the 17th I'll be wearing my business suit, as always. But, I do get to choose my stinking tie. THAT will be a clan tartan one for sure.

I changed my mind - I am going to wear my County Antrim, not much green in it but it's got a Shamrock kilt pin.

This begs the question: Do I wear my kilt on St. Patrick's day? Will people think I am an idiot?
When I wouldn't answer a group of twenty-somethings "question", one of the guys yelled "He's no real Irishman!". I thought, "What an idiot." So, by wearing the kilt on an IRISH holiday, am I only adding to the prevailing ignorance surrounding the kilt, and thus furthering my own hypocrisy?
I would truly like to know your thoughts on this. I know there are modern Irish tartans, but I think that is an inadequate answer. Why do pipe and drum bands in the United States march and play (whilst kilted) in St. Patrick's Day parades?
Fire away, boys.
Ooh, you've just given me the perfect reason to make McGurk wear his kilt, after all, he has got a kilt in Heritage of Ireland. Kilts have existed everywhere at some point, or some version of 'skirt' (for want of a better word). Wrapping yourself in fabric came before trousers, wherever the modern 'kilt' originated.

You most certainly can. Happens when you've had too much whisky or one too many pints

Then why not wear a liene? It came before the kilt and it's definitely Irish.
