Sadly this is so untrue, but it is very true to say that the whole organising of the "gathering" hasn't been as well thought out as it might havebeen , and they haven't really seemed to have got everyone on their side.
I really do wish it well especially when so many people are travelling long distances to visit.
There will lots of photo chances and I look forward to those with baited breath

For a first time event, I think things are going well.
Now if we can only convince them to do it again.

Well if "they" do have another go at it, perhaps "they" might remember the locals next time.

The Gathering hasnt been advertised as much as it should but Homecoming is drawing in a lot of people - especially us in Scotland who see some more Americans, Australians, Canadians etc. coming to bring their part to events as a good thing. It encourages us.
Those people in Scotland who oppose Scottish tradition and culture are being shown by other people's actions in visiting Scotland how much this country means to millions. It's ashame that everyone isn't so enthusiastic... after all - I bet none of them have even given clan gatherings, highlands games, piping championships or even wearing a kilt a go!

Very true, Paul, I've been aware of this since the first of the Homecoming events I attended this year, Burns Light at Dumfries, perhaps its because there are events going on over a period of ten months that the Scot's excitement for the Edinburgh Gathering is so muted .

What do you want "them" to do differently next time?
Do the tourists bring in enough money to help the local economy? I promise to go shopping every day!

Oh make no mistake Scottish tourism is of major importance. This is my point! "They" are so busy chasing the Dollar,Euro,Yen or whatever, that "they" have forgotten that us locals might have liked an invitation to join in. OK, so I have been out of circulation for a couple of months, so I cannot speak first hand, but I was asked only yesterday if I knew anything about "this march thing" in the Capital. That is just one local family of eight people who would have gone, had they known about it earlier.
