Is this just punishment for intruding?

I like that very much. You too are a poet, and philosopher.
Does this work too:
Whereas moth and rust doth corrupt, perhaps our words may yet live on.

It works perfectly well, I believe, though it changes my original meaning, however slightly.
I was aiming for:
[In that place] where moth and rust doth corrupt, perhaps our words may [continue to survive].

Very good, I see. Of course, you make perfect sense. I do love it.
I was thinking more in the ephemeral; a process rather than place. I should think either is acceptable; however, yours is moreso as it is your origin and intent. Let me apologize for.....intruding.

Not at all, sir! In fact, I was hoping to maintain the possibility for a double meaning, there... possible truth in temporal, as well as ephemeral terms.
Fear not, for it would seem that we have been on the same page, all along.

I've had it pointed out that I am "not socially dependent." Nice way of saying that I generally don't give a furry rodent's behind for the opinion of others when it comes to my own behavior / way of thinking / etc.
As for the fishing poetry. . . big fan of Randy Wayne White, here. Prose but often poetical, in both his fiction and non-fictional works. Can be hysterically funny as well, sometimes all in the same phrase!
