Today's outfit, first day it's been nice enough to wear a 4 yard box pleat.

That is a lovely tartan!
I’m struggling to understand how a box pleat looks and functions- do you have pictures you’re willing to share showing the pleats and how they operate?

Here are a couple of photos from when I got the kilt. Not sure if they will demonstrate you what you're after.

It looks very balanced- does it move like other kilts (the swish)?
Also, how does it tolerate being sat upon? Are the pleats fairly hardy, or does it require regular pressing?

I don't see a civilian box pleated kilt very often here. I mean absolutely no offence to anyone, but when I saw Glen's picture of his box pleated kilt, I was instantly reminded of a school girl's skirt of the 1950's. Sorry.

Concerning a civilian box pleated kilt. I have the one that I did at Kilt Kamp back in 2017, and I prefer it to the knife pleated kilts I have worn in the past. This is in no small reason due to the fact that I live in coastal North Carolina, USA and our summertime temps are frequently near the 100 degrees Fahrenheit, with the humidity also near 100%. As for movement/pleat action, I have not noticed any significant difference. Simply put I really like it.

Hi!
Box-pleated kilts are my wheelhouse -- they're my favourite. They do not swish as much as a knife-pleated kilt partially because it's simply less material. It's a VERY well balanced garment and I never have trouble with sitting on the pleats leading to anything unpleasant. It's the finest kilt, for me, for all-aroudn wear -- even in my rural western New England environment.
