Wow. I guess I best not disagree around here again...And for the record I do think before hitting enter. The name Highland Mafia comes from My old regiment. Highland Fusiliers of Canada. We were also known as the Highland Mafia. As we always ended up with the best bits of kit through dodgey dealings.
But sorry to say fellas I just think this whole thing is quite over the top. I am a blunt person and I suppose I've been known to have a acid tongue from time to time. But maybe this is not the place for disagreeing.

I have been known to take a contrary point of view from time to time here and it took a while to come up with the right wording style, so as not to ruffle too many feathers.I still get it wrong on occasion! We are all entitled to a point of view and as long as we keep within the forum boundaries all will be well. Just remember that on the whole the "Rabble" are a nice bunch who appreciate straight talking when it is polite.

Just a couple of quick points...
First, this is just the "place for disagreeing." Many threads on the forum have gone on this long, and why? Because at the heart of the thread, there's a disagreement on some subject. In this thread, you disagree with the direction of most of the posts... that's fine. Just allow for folks to disagree with your disagreement.
Second, the subject may be over the top for you. I certainly wouldn't have thought it would create press interest either. And it certainly hasn't inspired me to want to play golf in a kilt. (that has nothing to do with the kilt!) But the subject certainly has hit a nerve for a lot of people. Jeff didn't hire a publicist or go on Oprah... this story was selected by the Scottish press, an editor somewhere decided to give it a prominent run and it elicited a lot of comments both pro and con (including yours). So clearly it is an issue for enough people (on both sides of the pond!) to warrant discussion here. Just saying....

Well Jeff, I just wanted to pop in and say that if you're ever in my neck of the woods (SWOntario) you are more than welcome to come curling with me and the missus.
You might want to think twice about wearing the kilt though, as the motion required to throw the rock might have you dragging your goolies across the ice as you yell your instructions to your sweepers.

Now don't give Jeff any ideas. He may contact Oprah next....
Or maybe The View could pick it up.

I've never met Jeff, but I can understand his frustration at the ridiculous rules, and I feel proud to be a part of the same community as him. He's standing up for what he believes in, and acting with integrity and honesty. Obviously some media outlets have picked up his story and run with it, because they can see the value in his fight.
No man has the right question whether that which another does is with cause, or to question anothers' motives.
I stand behind Jeff, and hope that one day, if presented with the same ridiculous situation, I'd have the courage to take the stand he did.

My thoughts exactly.

Somebody say something about Oprah? Hmmmmm.....interesting thought. Wife thinks maybe "The View" because Whoopee would have a field day. Maybe Leno or Letterman? 'Nuff time and energy spent.
If I haven't said it enough to date, thanks again to all for their comments, either way, and your support.
But Oprah? Makes you think, huh.
