The only issue with those red-top hose is that (here in the States) they are immediately recognized by many as Boy Scout hose. So while they work perfectly with a kilt if worn with the Scout uniform, as Michael is doing, I think if one were to take to wearing them wit ordinary Highland attire, you should expect to hear a lot of, "Hey, aren't those Scout hose?" and "Those look just like my old Scout socks," and "Are you a Boy Scout?" etc.
So, not saying don't wear them. Just pointing out that they are easily and quickly recognizable as a style of socks associated specifically with the Boy Scouts, so be prepared for that association if/when you wear them.

That's a great looking kilt and I like that kilting is accepted in the Boy Scouts. Is the metal sporran chain part of the uniform or could you swap it for a leather strap? Chains can cause undue wear and tear on your kilt...

CMcG...don't get that debate started here!!! Refer to the Scouting thread if you want to read 30+ pages of debate of the wrongness/correctness of wearing an unauthorized kilt with the BSA uniform. In short, it's not regulation. I think that Michael looks smashing!

Will upload a couple more shots tonight, per your request.
There are many threads on uniform correctness and I do not want to rehash those here. I have read them all. Please know that I agree with the line of thought the authorized uniform is the correct uniform. Let me make this one comment concerning this specific event. The other candidate (we are both Assistant Scoutmasters in the same troop & attended the same Wood Badge course) and I asked permission of the council appointed Wood Badge Course Scoutmaster, as well as our own Scoutmaster. The reasoning was that we are exposing the troop to a historic link, boadening the definition of scouting to being a "worldwide movement" for the boys, and having a little fun at a special event (always in favor of more fun). On that basis, we received approval for this one event. Please do not restart the debate here. Do feel free to send personal messages on the subject. Let's just have some fun.

Nice kilt, Mr. Hahn! Congratulations on receiving a very nice McLaren. Eventually I too will be getting a McLaren tartan kilt as my great grandfather was a Lowson. Will be looking forward to meeting folks in Arlington on June 4 (Saturday). Hopefully I'll be wearing a USAKilt also, but if not will be wearing my brand new Nation Kilt. I was a Cub Scout back in the 70's, never went on to Boy Scouts though. Will see you there!
