Whilst my health is much improved (I'll be posting about that quite soon!!), I'm afraid that travel, even of reasonably short distances such as Storrington - Harpenden and back, is still absolutely a non-starter. Also, I very much doubt I could manage being away from home for an entire day, even if it is spent with such illustrious and jolly company as my brother X-Markers. For several years I was a regular attendee and I am saddened that I will miss the event yet again.

I'm sure all who do make it to Harpenden will have a great time - I'll be thinking of you.

    Take care,
    Ham.

    Hamish,

I am absolutely delighted to know that your health is much improved, and I very much hope continuing to improve day by day.

Very sorry to hear that you can't make it to Harpenden this year. The event will be all the poorer for the absence of Xmarks' very own much-loved superstar!

We ordinary Xmarkers though, will do our best to hold the fort, you can rely on that!

Hope to see you again soon Hamish, if not before, at Harpenden 2012!

    very best wishes

    Martin

And where it is happening. We will be in Scots Corner, just about where the red circle is.

    This year's pipe bands are:

    • Bedford University Pipe Band
    • British Airways Pipe Band
    • Harpenden Pipes and Drums

I wasn't sure whether you were in the group, but now that you have said - I remember. Ah, my poor brain cells aren't what they used to be!

I'm afraid it clashes with my railway's 1940s/Wartime Weekend which is one of the busiest weekends on our calendar. I do hope to be able to go again though as I enjoyed it so much the last time I went!

only 55 miles and 60 minutes away...

Wife is attending Cubs Quidditch match as our representative leader on Saturday, then attending our AGM and the annual BBQ.

I'm working at Gilwell Park (Scout HQ) for G24 (24 hour 'come and try something new' where I'm helping run the busncraft zone) then going to the BBQ.

WIll have to work on the wife to see if she's up for a bit of a 'fling' on Sunday...I know my eldest would love it! And ok, me as well.

We didn't do anything for our aniversary so...
