Does that mean it's my call? Damn.
Well, so far everyone has said either Mon or Tue, except you... so let's do Tuesday so everyone can come As for time... I wouldn't commit myself to being there before 7. Does that work?

One, I know firsthand* that neighborhood is not very tolerant of loud noises from the area of the bars, especially on weeknights, except on certain occasions (St. Pat's - the parade is usually the Saturday afternoon before March 17th, Bardstown Road A-Glow - usually 1st Saturday evening in December, St. Pat's, Fourth of July, or St. Pat's ). I think the pipes qualify as a loud noise. (They average about 100 decibels at 10 feet, outdoors. Indoors, it's about 116 decibels. I usually wear earplugs when I play, even outdoors.) I also wouldn't want to interrupt any paid entertainers that may be there (out of professional courtesy).
Besides that, per the Metro noise ordinance (with comments): "(A) It shall be unlawful for any person within Louisville Metro to make, continue, or cause to be made (that would mean playing a loud instrument) or continued, any unreasonably loud, harsh or excessive noise (like the Great Highland Bagpipes)which either annoys, disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace, or safety of others (i.e., the grouches in the neighborhood), unless the making and continuing of the noise is necessary for the protection or preservation of property or the life, health, or safety of a person or persons. ... (The following is in the defiition section before the ordinance itself.) UNREASONABLY LOUD, HARSH, or EXCESSIVE NOISE. Any manufactured noise plainly audible at a distance of 50 feet from its point of origination or emanation. (Outdoors, a single set of pipes can be heard at a distance of 1/4 mile or better, depending upon prevailing conditions.)"
Two, I'm also a little concerned about having the big pipes in the bar environment. The only time I've played them in the bars is with the band, during one of the aforementioned events, and we were in & out, near the door. I don't want to think about what it would be like to carry them through a crowd as a soloist. Also, the pipes are an expensive instrument, and not easily repaired/replaced. (Unlike guitars, violins, or other more common instruments, there aren't any local shops to pop into for repairs or to pick up a 'rental' instrument while mine is being repaired.)
I do have a set of shuttle pipes (much smaller and quieter, designed to be played indoors) that I might consider bringing. I'll have to think about it some. They're also kinda expensive and difficult to repair/replace.
*I used to live in that area before the noise ordinance was enacted, and I could hear the bands at Phoenix Hill Tavern from over 1 mile away, across Cave Hill Cemetery.
