Here is my sgian dubh with 5th coat of oil on the handle... now you can see the cherry burl grain!

The handle is shaped to fit MY hand for comfortable, firm, hopefully non-slip grip.

The phone camera does not capture the color variation and grain swirl very well, unfortunately.
The handle was the first thing that caught my attention. The contouring obviously intends for that to be a safe, useful knife. I see so may cheap ones online that are impossible to use for any kind of real work!

I freely admit that I rarely use my sgian dubh for actual cutting chores, but when I need it, I want it to function well as what it is. One of them cut ribbon to save some part of the day at a wedding earlier this year because, well, nobody else had a knife. Well done all around, and beautiful steel in addition to a nicely crafted handle.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for your kind wordsTNscotsman.
I could not really see the point to not having a nice sgian dubh when out and about.

As arthritis invades, it is best to have something you can truly hang onto.
