I know the Black Watch association has a large chapter in Nova Scotia. They are great fellas, and they even have their own pipe & drum band.

Are you sure it's Nova Scotia, because I've never heard of them here.

Sorry, with all of the regular bands here, I missed them. I checked out there web site and I gather that they only played once a year (which I see is about the change), which would be why they were unfamilure to me. I'm more used to seeing the larger groups which frequent the Highland Games, ect.

ummmm, hello?
Count me in on any gathering and if possible I might be able to scrounge up a highland dancer or two for a treat.
I'm a CFA from Ontario, but I've not lived there since 1985. I've lived in Newfoundland before settling here. Halifax is very different than the hustle and bustle of Hamilton where I grew up, but the people are friendlier! And it's not flat.
If you're coming out this way in the summer, be sure to PM!

Yes, indeedy, summer is a busy time in the Nova Scotia area for highland gatherings. The area being New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.
Moncton Highland Games, NB: June 20 - 21
Gathering of the Clans, Pugwash, NS: July 1
Halifax Highland Games, Dartmouth, NS: July 11
Antigonish Highland Games, NS: July 17-19
New Brunswick Highland Games, Fredricton, NB: July 24-26
Prince Edward Island Highland Games, Eldon, PEI: August 1
Festival of the Tartans, New Glasgow, NS: August 7-10
Hector Festival, Pictou, NS : August 12-17
(although not technically a 'Games' the Hector Festival is a celebration of the first landing of Scots in Nova Scotia and features piping and dancing competitions, displays, concerts, reenactments, etc.)
I'll be at Pugwash, Antigonish, Halifax, New Glasgow and Hector Festival for sure for the dance competitions. Thinking about the PEI Games too. If you're around come look for me, I'll be in the oldest Premier dancer section of the competition which generally are early afternoons.
and of course the biggest Tattoo outside of Scotland happens right here in Halifax! July 1-8
All the places on the list above are within a 2-3 hour drive of Halifax.

That's a decent calendar of events. I wonder how many of the attendees know about Xmarks? Perhaps some kind of advertising is needed. If anyone on Xmarks has a booth at these events, perhaps they could have some flyers to hand out?
Cheers

The PEI games in Eldon are not the best..they are very very small...but quite friendly....so if you're into that then cool.
Better is the games that the College of Pipes and Drums holds in Summerside

Thanks for reminding me Cloves.
Summerside Highland Gathering, Summerside, PEI, June 26-28
The College of Piping in Summerside PEI, holds summer camps and courses which are open to anyone. Performances are held quite often during the summer season on the stage behind the College.

The Gaelic College of Celtic Arts and Crafts in Cape Breton has summer courses and activities you might want to check out.
