ok yup, lore update. Apparently, they changed it on purpose when they ran over stateside to hide or whatever. This is so fun getting information from family who doesn't remember what they were told (/Sarcastic). Anyway at least I know that it wasn't even a "Mac" or McC" at all it's just a plain old C.
This is annoying thank you to everyone for putting up with this with me haha :0)

Oh, odd it didn't post. meant to reply to ya Bruce Scott about how I thought that made sense since the family is mixed Irish-Scottish and I thought I'd have to just trace it back a bit, but then the new info came in so yhea.

Ok, it's been a hot minute since I've been on here. But good news! Found out my family is from the Hebrides! Specifically, Barra and Colonsay prior to them scooting over to the states

I've also decided to start learning Scotts Gaelic, so far it's surprisingly been a lot easier for me to get compared to the other languages I've attempted learning (high school French is evil). Mostly doing it since I enjoy singing and it's already been making things a lot easier in that department when looking up lyrics to songs in Gaelic

So yhea a little life update for anyone bored enough to look haha. :0)

Gaelic with Jason is definitely why I'm finding learning it easy! His pacing and teaching style are just my thing. Thanks for the other website as well!

Being the Scott's are a Borders clan, it's unlikely they had any Gaelic, though there are a few here and there with the family name in the areas north of the Highland line that may speak Gaelic (and there may have been some native speakers in the past).

Scots Gaelic, however, is prevalent in those areas.

Just teasing a little.

I apologize if it upsets anyone, but I do sometimes get sensitive about the distinction between spelling of the ethnic group (Scot, with one t) and my family name (Scott, with two t's).

Interesting plot twist from my mother's side of the family whom I assumed up until now were just Irish.
Someone actually paid a genealogist and it turns out that we are Stewarts. Which I'm now realizing should have been more obvious since it was my great grandmother's maiden name (In my defense I've only ever been told is that great great grandma was like first Gen in the states Irish, not much else and clearly they didn't know either), but ay! That's cool :0)
