While I wouldn't wear a kilt with trousers, I would drink a beer with you in a pub as I wear a kilt myself.

And as I wear my kilt too, however I decide to wear it.

He hates Scotland and it’s not just to do with me wearing a kilt in a manner that I’m comfortable
Your brother is entitled to his thoughts , but what he wants is never going to happen, so no matter what he wants and says it just not going to happen. Trust me, I have heard it all before and from experience very few agree with that train of thought. Am I being complacent? I think not.

And so I have to tell him to keep those thoughts to himself

I am quite sure you already have and have no doubts at all that you will continue to do so. One can only hope that you will both tire of the discussion and agree to differ quietly!

I am not sure why you deem it "too dangerous." I am guessing it is concern about the kilt blowing up and revealing your underwear. If that is what it is, you can wear shorts underneath. Bike shorts work well for this. If you are concerned about exposed legs, kilts provide more coverage than most pairs of shorts. Running tights might work for you in either case.

I mean I can thank you for the advice but I’m personally not interested, at the moment anyway, in wearing it in such a way that will make others question what I have underneath…

I see. Are you concerned that people will ask you, or is it that you are concerned about what they may be thinking even if they don't say it?
