Just finished Clancy's Threat Vector. An awesome read - if you like that kind of story - and also quite scary. Scary? Yes, because some of what he wrote about a year ago has come to light in the media within the last couple of weeks. 1) Hacking attempts across the US coming from a (particular) place in China, similar to that described in the story; and 2) a recent congressional hearing about the possibility of hijacking military drones by hacking the GPS system - acts of which kicked off Clancy's plot.

Right now just mandated reading: Richard Feldman's Reason and Argument for a philosphy course, and The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems to get our kid to consistently sleep through the night.
I did, however, recently read and enjoy Gun Machine by Warren Ellis, Cold Days by Jim Butcher and REAMDE by Neal Stephenson.

I've also been thumbing through "Redcoats and Rebels: The American Revolution Through British Eyes."
Great book! Very insightful and a little ego-deflating.

Last month, one of the books of choice was The Vikings by Robert Ferguson. It's a good introduction to viking and Norse history. The book on the must study pile is on pharmaceutical calculations. The current fun book is The Endless Knot, part of the Song of Albion series.
