"The Ballad of How MacPherson Held the Floor", anyone?
Said President MacConnachie to Treasurer MacCall:
"We ought to have a piper for our next Saint Andrew's Ball.
Yon squakin' saxophone gives me the syncopated gripes.
I'm sick of jazz, I want to hear the skirling of the pipes."
It's been stuck in my head ever since someone on here mentioned it, so now I have a reason to recite it to random people on the street (hey, I'm an actor )

Haggis, single malt and a cigar....
Now does it get any better than that?!!
I salute you! Hey, just a tip....I live
in Oregon and there is a guy here making
the best haggis I've ever tasted. Check him
out. He'll ship. (No, I've no affiliation and
don't get any "cut" ok?).

"Lamb's Haggis"
It's good. I swear! And it comes in links too.
(My favorite)......
Hope things work out with the job.

I'll check out the Haggis...
Thanks for the thoughts on this.
I've gone around about this but just decided that as a friend of mine said to me (he is an attorney((Scottish ancestry so he's OK)) "You work for them then you play by their rules."
Yep, the previous boss was more fun but that's how it goes...<cough...cough> feel's like a cold coming on...guess I'll have to take some sick time later today and go home and take my special medicine (12 years old)!
Maybe that would make me feel better!!!!
HAPPY ST. ANDREWS DAY !!!

My day was almost a let down.
I raised the flag, wore my kilt, sent out emails to friends, tried to organise a few friends over for drinks to celebrate, no one was interested!
No mention of St Andrews Day in the media....all Australians want to celebrate is their wretched football or cricket team.
I got very saddened about the lack of culture in this country.
Anyway, after scottish country dancing tonight I talked the lasses into coming over to an Irish pub for a drink. We had 15 minutes to down a guinness - the pub closes at 10pm!!! and we were the ONLY ones in the pub!!
Then to McDonalds for tea and coffee, then to a mates place for a couple of drams.
Not a waste after all, but close!

No kilt a work today, but the Flower of Scotland will be worn tonight. In honour of the occasion my wife has made a quiche lorraine (Her regional dish). A truly international (non)event.
We get to celebrate St. Andrew's Day with a visit from George W. We're all thrilled with the retrictions that we have as a result of the security measures.

St. Andrew's Day...
No kilt at work here either, Casey. I am going to a special St. Andrew's Day mass tonight at church. My icon of St. Andrew and the Saltire are prominently displayed in my office, though!
I think I'll hae a nice wee fish supper (fish & chips) at lunch to mark the holiday!
If I only had some Irn-Bru (or McEwans!)
Yours Aye,
Todd

I'll carry the torch today. Not only am I proudly wearing my Royal Stewart today, I also sent out a dept wide email wishing them a happy St Andrews Day with a picture of a thistle and another of the Scottish flag and a little bit of background on the holiday.

St. Andrew's Day has been a total non-event down here in the south of England. I've heard no mention of it on either national radio or national TV (both cover the entire British Isles). As a result of extreme leaf-clearing activities and domestic chores, I have not left my 'estate' today, nor have I spoken with anyone.
I could have eaten Haggis - but forgot to take it out of the freezer yesterday! Now it's almost bedtime and not a sip of alcohol has passed my lips.
But are we downhearted? No. I think I'll make another cup of coffee and finish up here.
(All together now: "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!")
