Now I have to wonder, would Prince Charles wear a contemporary Kilt, such as one from Freedom Kilts or Utilikilts? And whether he has heard of them?

Of course he's heard of Freedom Kilts. How do you think I got the invitation to the wedding?
Well actually I'm not invited to the wedding, only the reception, because Charles is afraid I'll embarass him again like the night I showed up at his place after a kilted pub crawl.

I wear the kilt because: Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

I don't know how many kilts he owns bubba, but I think it's a fair few. He has been a keen kilt-wearer since he was a boy. He doesn't only wear a kilt when he feels he ought to. He wears them casually too.
I know he has received many kilts as gifts during his travels. That alone is enough to put a smile on his face!

Every word is true, Martin. However, Charles wears the kilt, casually or formally, ONLY when he is in Scotland unless he is undertaking an official engagement elsewhere in his capacity as Colonel in Chief of a kilted regiment. I hadhat from members of his personal Staff whom I have known for years.

Thats a sharp 'hunting'-style sporran too....
And a good looking jacket and waistcoat.....
Maybe we could all pitch in and send him a kilt from the 'X Marks Gang'.....

HRH Prince Charles...
In the video "Instrument of War", HRH Prince Charles, when speaking to one of the last surviving pipers from the First World War (an ex-Gordon), speaks very fondly about growing up in Scotland and watching the Gordon pipers playing at Balmoral. He is always wearing his Gordon Highlanders regimental tie.
His grandfather, King George VI, also wore the kilt frequently and his wife, Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, thought of herself as Scottish.
Cheers,
Todd

Hi, Todd,
I've only just picked up on this thread 'cos of Shane's posting today.
I know who one identifies with is an important denominator, but I would have thought that the late Queen Mother had a good start on being Scottish as Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, daughter of the Earl of Strathmore, growing up (largely, until she came out) at Glamis Castle.

The next kilt I am making is a Gordon tartan, I would like to find that tie as well..
I have to agree with Charles, for me, there is just something about the Gordon Highlanders....
