I'm getting word from friends in Phoenix that it could be a VERY soggy weekend...hope not...weather will certainly effect my choice of kilts...not wearing the high price tartan tank into foul weather...
We do need the rain though.

Lovely! Will that cancel some events? Or will they boldly press on in true British fashion?

Don't know. Figure Ren Faire would plod on through the mud...authenticity and all...can't imagine a little rain slowing down the Scots at the Highland Games. Just the usual sun tents would become rain tents. Believe the field at Mesa Com College is grass so no mud worries there...check weather underground www.wunderground.com next week to see what the weather guessers think.
Got an email from Robert at RKilts...my new saffron leather RKilt just MIGHT make it here in time...that would be too cool. Trying not to "expect" that to happen...its well made and will be here for future gigs.

I was at the airport last night and was approached by some folks who asked me whether or not my kilt was SCA. I thought those dudes were real sticklers for authenticity, so I don't know why they would have thought I fit the bill (Just my kilt, sporran ,hiking boots and a sweater)> Anyhow, they said that they had just returned from the Highland games down there and said they had a blast. Couldn't help but think of you guys. The Ren scene isn't really my thing, but I have enjoyed a fair or two. Hope that the news from the southland was accurate and that you enjoyed your time there,
George

Boy, now I'm confused, info I have says Highland Games in Mesa are this coming weekend....??
If the Ren Faire is mudded out may hang at the Highland games for two days, at least its on a grass field at the college.
A ladyfriend who's SCA is tagging along with me, but out of costume. Staying with yet another lady who isn't interested in going to either one...being 60 and single and kilted seems to be working well....

rain...

Rain usually never stops a games completely, although there are those rare occurances...too late to cancel, and far too much money invested, so the event usually goes on, although outdoor activities are sometimes scrapped. If it does rain, be prepared for hearing the comment, "It's a fine Scottish day!" or variants a thousand times during the day! It's funny the first 5 minutes, but then it gets really old.
Slainte!

You're right,
Yesterdays Phoenix paper specifically mentioned that the folks at the Highland Games were making rain preparations.
Looks like the storm may have arrived early today and hopefully will be "more gone" for the weekend and the next storm will be "less here."
Even with all the tools the weather guessers have these day its hard to forcast.
Wonder how a kilt looks under an Aussie drover's coat

It actually looks pretty good Ron, depends on how you wear it though. What we really need is an Inverness cape of course.
I am heading out to Az and the games in about an hour though, rain or shine on your end. Hope to see you stop by the booth.
