I did that with a raccoon pelt. The result looks rather more rustic than the commercial ones, but it has received quite a few compliments. Also, as a DIY effort I could be sure it had a useful capacity. Don't recall what I paid for the pelt, but it was far cheaper than a commercial sporran of this sort.

Awhile back someone posted a URL for a place that had pelts along with a bunch of other stuff, but I lost it. I do recall their prices were pretty good. If anyone remembers it I'd like to have it again.

Well, I threatened my girlfriend's dog with turning him into a sporran if he ate any more computer equipment...He's mostly Jack Russell Terrier, so I think he'd look good, but then he gives me that cute little puppy dog stare. <Sigh> I guess we'll just have to see what he eats next. But seriously, if anyone manages to make his own full mask sporran, please put up some pics and hints as I would really like to follow in their footsteps.

FYI, Crazy Crow Trading Company has a selection of animal pelts including head on pelts for reasonable prices.

I believe Grey Owl Crafts, www.greyowlcrafts.com , may have some too, and the prices used to be cheaper than Crazy Crow...

Crazy Crow has great quality stuff, I used to buy a lot of my Native American crafts supplies from them.....
