We dressed a friend of ours up in a kilt for his wedding reception, and it almost caused the first tiff of married life for him when people were more interested in his kilt than his new wife's dress! Thank goodness we did it after the ceremony rather than before, or else it might not have taken place at all!
Assuming the bride is ok with it, I would tend to dress slightly better than the rest of the people there. That way people wont assume you are being kilted for attention, a sad misconception I've run into a few times.
