    slightly off topic...

    Its great to see another reenactor here! I'm involved in WW2 Canadian myself.

    back on topic:
    Spats shouldnt be just used for pipe bands, I think they look really good especially when in full formal attire.

    We wore white spats as part of our full-dress uniforms in our reserve unit over thirty years ago. They looked really sharp with the white web belts, white leather sporrans and diced hose tops. They were a bit of a pain to get on and off, though. My feeling is that they can tend to make the feet look "heavy", at least on skinny-legged guys like me!
