    Thanks for the input

I appreciate all the input. I just ordered a Buzz Kidder Rob Roy model in Black.

On the topic of pockets I have to agree with Scotus. I love the pockets on my UK Kilts but I would never want one on a traditional Kilt. I feel that a traditional tartan kilt is just that, traditional. I'll save the pockets for my solid modern kilts.

    Buzz Kidder

chacbalam, I think you made a very good choice in the Buzz Kidder Rob Roy. They are quite traditional looking; moreover, they have the softness and comfort of a more modern sporran. A very handsome choice. I think you'll be quite happy with it.

I recieved my Buzz Kidder sporran last week and I have been wearing it every day. I like it so much That I have even been using it with my UKs. I atteach it to my belt with Buzz's hanging clips. Why would I use a sporran if I already have All those great pockets?

    Three reasons:
    1. It looks great and gives my UKs a more traditional feel.
    2. It frees up the puckets in my Worman for other things, knives, tape measures, etc.
    3. It helps in the wind. Utilikilts do not have a full size front apron. Because of this they are more prone to flying up in a heavy wind. A n ice heavy sporran helps to weight the apron done and reduce unexpected exposures.

OK guys, you've talked me into it. I have just about finished my Leatherneck Barb's Possee hand sewn and during the work I kept thinking side slash pockets would be so easy.
Look for the Freedom Kilts Traditional model to be released soon.
Buckle closure, Side slash pockets hidden in the pleats, and an option for rear double welt pockets in the back.
everybody hurry up and decide on the X-Marks Tartan so I can order some more fabric.

    Why re-invent the wheel?

The very smart, and certainly a kilt in the traditional mould-The Hill Walker, together with pockets has been around for many years now: have a look at the Hector Russell site.

Too, for many good practical reasons a sporran worn in front cannot be too capacious: however the excellent and certainly traditional 'side sporran', offers all that is required in respect of carrying capacity.

The above have proven more than acceptable in all kilt wearing circles for all situations apart from the ultra dressy. I would add that the Hill Walker has attracted positive comments from the most conservative of traditionalists.
