I started wearing kilts because of my Scottish ancestory. I continued to wear them on a daily basis becase of that and they are comfortable.

To me, all but number 3 and 4. Primarily the comfort factor, but all others seem to fit

Ethnic
Ethnic identity is the first and only reason for me. I would be more specific and say "Scottish identity," rather than simply "Celtic."

Since I was adopted when I was only 48 hours old, I have no clue as to my ethnic heritage. But my dad is part Welsh, so that gives me a good excuse to wear my Prince Of Wales USAK. My mom's parents were both the children of German immigrants, and there are a couple of German tartans out there, if only I can get hold of them at a reasonable price.
I first got interested in kilts when I saw someone in a UK. I told the girl I was dating at the time that I was interested in getting one. She got this evil grin and sorta growled, "mmmmmm... kilts are sssssssexy..." She sounded and looked pretty sexy herself when she said that, and I figured there had to be a kilt in my future.
I've been a bit of an outsider my whole life, so people staring doesn't bug me too much. But mostly, I wear the kilt for personal pride. I spent too many years of my life mired in depression and other things best not mentioned here, and I guess that I feel good about the fact that I was able to get through it and create a self that I could be proud of. So for me, the kilt is emblematic of my life being worth something.

I'd be the same as Blu, all but the military reason, I have no connection there.
Basically, nothing makes me feel better than to wear the kilt, nothing is more comfortable, nothing comes close....and I'm too old to care what people think of me

I started wearing the kilt simply because I was very proud of my scottish herritage but it has now evolved from that, I also find it quite nice looking and comfortable!
