Talk to me on November 9th, 2005 and I'll be MORE than happy to do it.
Dana, machine sewing it is just fine. That's how I handle them. I'm not about to hand-sew a thinner material like that... unless it's a light-weight wool that's got sentimental meaning. It will make a HUGE difference in the fit and appearance. In fact, there's enough material in the under-apron left edge to create matching belt loops. USAKilts used to do this alteration for a nominal fee.

Ahhhh, a sewing machine....hmmmm, haven't driven one of them in thirty years....is it like riding a bicycle?? Would I remember?
Another challenge....
Visions of buying a sewing machine at WalMarche while kilted....that'll get the Navajos heads turning...

re: spert-kee-ults; oops,sorry Sport Kilts ...
i've recently been reading up on and considering training for the 2006 amateur lightweight throw .. the 28 lb'er.
as i'm doing my research, prior to relieving myself of fatty tissue and the consumption of beer and heading on in to serious training, i've noticed that a number of the Scottish Heavy Athlete sites have plently of Sportkilt links and/or images on their sites
hmmm
i just witnessed a bunch of "huge" fellas tossing 56 lbs of dead weight hooked to a steel chain and another bunch of "huge" fellas picking up and flipping an 18 foot, 160 lb piece of timber. they were all wearing kilts. i'm pretty sure they weren't Sport Kilts.

Does getting pissed off and throwing a full keg of beer at another human being count as a sport? I mean, it's a bit like throwing a hammer or a telephone pole.
Has a nice ring to it don't you think... Scottish Keg Tossing.

Mayhap... But when your possible drinking buddy is knocked out cold on the floor that usually means more beer for you.

Not as long as it is Coors light or some other useless rubbish that tries to pass as beer

Well, I'm glad this isn't just another Sportkilt bashing thread. I personally wasn't disappointed with my Sportkilt. It was exactly what it claims to be, a cost effective kilt equivalent to track suit pants. I live in Tampa, Florida where 95F highs with 90% humidity isn't unusual in summer, so to me a very light kilt is perfect. I'm wearing it right now in fact!
So anyway, that's my $0.02 worth. Sportkilts are not great, but they're pretty good. I will be purchasing a USAkilt for more formal wearing, but for a Dropkick Murphy show or living in Tampa in summer, Sportkilt is good.
