Hey chasem, where in KY are you? I'm up in NKY and kilted most of the time (though usually in a UK not a tartan).

I'm resurecting this way old thread, because I am seriously considering a KY tartan for my next kilt. The biggest problem is that it is only a special weave (i.e. you gotta order it) which makes it much more expensive (8 yard from the Kilt Store w/ our discount is $609 when they start selling kilts at $336).
Additionally I am really thinking about one of Matt's box pleated kilts.
So, since I know that there are at least 4-5 members here in KY, I am wondering if there might be enough interest to do a larger run of the tartan (thus reducing the price per yard) kind of like what was done with the X-Mark's tartan. Now I'm not in any hurry, in fact it will probably be after the first of the year before I can really consider it, but I'd still like to know if there is any interest.

Well, Adam, you have my attention. If we're waiting a few months I should be able to save up some money by then for a couple yards.

Adam, I'm not interested in a $600 kilt, and really wasn't interested in another at all until I saw our tartan. I would be interested in your findings. PM if you want me to help.

Are you coming down for The Witches of Doon?

There are some pics on this site of the KY United Pipes and Drums, out of Lexington in this tartan. Go to the photo section and click on the last set (Gatlinburg).
Personally, I'd like to see it pleated to the stripe.
I'm considering joining them to learn the pipes.

I'm over in Western Kentucky. Not far from Bowling Green, but a little closer to Owensboro.

I wonder if Yeti is enough of a Kentuckian to get him in that tartan, or shall I have to keep him around a wee bit longer? NKY here, for one more week, then Eastern Kentucky (Grayson) for a month, then back to NKY.
