My g-father was a McKee (his descendents left from Ulster) - but all the digging I did said that was MacKay (spelled like that). I have seen both MacKay and Mackay on several sites... are they the same? Most of the tartan seems to be indicated as MacKay........

    I just found this site:
    http://www.clanmackayusa.org/

    so Mackay it is!

Thanks for bringing that up BMackay.....
I have to say that I prefer the small K, but like with all things Scottish of this nature, there is no "one" right way. In Thurso all of the Mackay references (tomb stones, store names, etc.) spell it with the small K. But I have met many a member of the Clan Mackay Society that spell it MacKay.

Either way you will have a great kilt from USAKilts, in a proud and history rich tartan.

    Wear it in good health!!!

Okay, I was going to resist posting the a "jonesing" thread because I ordered my 2nd kilt last week; a philabeg from Rocky in my family tartan. Its an early order as a gift from my wife for father's day so it get here in time, but with all the posts, I had to. One week down, six to go. Look like Kelly and Rocky will be busy for the next month.

A kilt jones is a terrible thing. Even worse when you have a kiltmaker within easy driving distance. I just went over to see what they had available, figuring I'd have them order something again. Low and behold they had the Mackay in stock, and it's a lovely tartan. Grrrr.
This is too easy, the candy man has way too much cool stuff available.

hrmm, it looks like Stillwater is still selling black kilts in the economy line.

You're right, but this is a Stillwater "standard" kilt in plain black, not a budget kilt. It just arrived today and fits like a charm. I dig it!
