Blue and gold, I would guess. Maybe mix in a lighter blue for the bluebird (official bird) and some sort of red for the rose (official flower)?

Did anyone on the board have a kilt made in the PA tartan? Pics would be great. It is a good looking tartan, and I am from PA. Too bad they didn't make it official.

I believe it is official now. See below:

as far as state tartans go, I'm quite partial to the New Hampshire tartan

The camo only works for those of us from "Pennsyltucky" Dad always said, "You have Philly on one side, Pittsburgh on the other, and Alabama in the middle.".
All in good fun, please dont delete this post. I was born and raised in PA so I think I'm allowed to poke a little fun.
Seriously though if people are going to get Matt to do 4 yard box pleats in this Tartan, I may be interested depending on the price.

Since this original thread is now about 4 years old, I thought I'd update my info a bit. If anyone is interested in doing a single kilt order, a 4 yard box pleated kilt for an average sized man will be $495. This is for heavy weight, 100% new worsted wool, woven in Scotland.
I can also provide standard 8 yard knife pleated kilts, as well as "casual" kilts made from custom tartans, as well as sell the cloth by the yard. Just contact me for info.

Last Friday when I was up in Franklin, Matt mentioned having made a Pennsylvania tartan kilt for someone. Maybe, if we're lucky, he took a picture or two.
(Just the remaining fabric looked good. Unfortunately I would have had to be two feet tall for it to be enough for a kilt. )

I like that tartan (unlike the Texas Bluebonnet - sorry fans)! I'm not from PA, but that's the colony where my ancestor McIntyre got off the boat and settled. I'm strongly considering a purchase.
