I was just heard on the radio that they desperately need blood all through the swath of destruction.
I am going back to lurking now, only said something because it needed to be said.

wow, news tonight covered the situation fairly well. I am amazed at the destruction, so very very sad, 55 dead at present.
Just so hard to comprehend for us here who have never seen such a thing.

The levee broke. New Orleans as a city is no more.
Good God have mercy.
They have a whole bunch of folk in a hospital that they can't get out. Water is rising 1 inch every 5 minutes in the hospital location. They can not possibly air-vac all those people out in time. Many are on life support and the gennies are on the second floor, and they are already becoming submerged.
Somebody estamated that roughly 2.2 million gallons per minute is coming through the gap.
Other levees, already straining, are threatening to fail. Several of the high rises have already collapsed from the whitewater flooding, some of those high rises, one of them a hotel, had people in them.
I don't know what to say.

Some small bit of info there. Lots of conflicting information right now. I hope it's not as bad as they are making it out.
The worst issue seems to be the several inches of oil floating on top of the water. Environmental disaster of an epic scale.
I am not allowed to say here what I really feel like saying, so I will just symbolicly take off my hat and bow my head.
