Ahhh Drambuie....that lovely stuff nearly kept me from getting sober...did love it so. Just a bit in a glass poured over a cube of ice. Great nightcap before bed.

Tartan looks similar to the Cameron Red and Black I'm getting ready to order from Kathy Lare...probably fitting in view of my history of boozing.

Drambuie was a politically correct family beverage what with our clan coming from Skye and all.

    Haven't seen the commercial yet.

Last night, I was craving something sweet after dinner. I mixed Drambuie ½ & ½ with Sylk Cream (which is also a Drambuie trademark) over ice. Sylk is a cream and heather honey liqueur made with aged malt whisky. The mix was perfect; rich and sweet, with no bite ... perfect to enjoy in front of the fire.

    Honey heather liquor...

Now that's just a CRUEL thing to lay out under the nose and tastebuds of a man who can't drink anymore

Do have another one for me though!

Sylk is Cream and honey - Irish Mist is the honey liqueur ...and not to be cruel (so Ron, don't read this), but, although they say scotch is the water of life (and I don't disagree with that), I maintain that Irish Mist is the ambroia of the gods. As their website says: "Imagine the glorious taste of aged Irish whiskey blended with honey, herbs and other spirits to an ancient recipe dating back more than 1000 years. Sophisticated, sweet, aromatic, warming - a wonderfully complex flavour that is uniquely Irish Mist."

    ...but, back to Drambuie... ;)

It seems the maker is really pushing the Drambuie and soda water (with lime slices as a garnish). I found it on their two main sites:
    http://www.signaturespirit.com/ and http://www.drambuie.com/sports/

This pic was on the main page of the later.

BTW, I have searched everywhere for the commercial on-line and no joy. Anyone else had any luck? If I can find it somewhere or capure it on DVR, I'll upload it to my site for us to enjoy.

    Su-Su

If you want to try a really interesting (and good!) variant of a Drambuie drink you should try a "Su-Su" from Indonesia.

A number of pipe bands from Australia used to travel to the Jakarta Highland Games each year (before terrorist activities shut them down) that the St. Andrew's Society of Jakarta held, and one of the most popular tents with the Perth, Highland Pipe Band was the Su-Su tent, where Drambuie was mixed with ice cold (and the temperature is the key) milk, sort of a variant of a Kaluha and cream. One of their pipers told me about the drink via e-mail, and it has become very popular in our St. Andrew's Society -- of course, we have to teach the bar staff how to make them at first!

    Cheers,

    Todd
