    Thanks.

Yes, it's a mystery braid; the concho is just for decoration. I'm not sure what the double twist portion is called, but I did it by simply slitting it and turning the strap in on it's self.

I'm considering the possibility of making a few of these for sale in the future. There's a couple of other techniques I want to play with first. No promises, but maybe. ;)

    ...and as for DIY:

    I cut it.
    I trimed it.
    I sliced it.
    I punched it.
    I dyed it.
    I braided it.
    I twisted it.
    I attached the hardware.

    There you go!! ;)

Iolaus, great strap! You really should consider making them for sale. I would be interested in one!

    Thumbs up

Aye, that's a beauty Iolaus. You've got taste as well as skill and imagination.

Earlier on in my kiltedness I made one of those myself-out of a nylon dog's collar. ....Well I wanted to look butch, project a little attitude, you know? Gave it a short length of heavy chain on each end and really industrial strength clips. Wore it with a ladies kilt so I had both the yin and yang happening....

I guess my point is that the wearing 'O the kilt inspires many of us to creation and innovation in fashionably attiring ourselves. And I guess, like you, I'm a fashion forward type of guy. 8)
