    "You chill."

"No, actually, I'm pretty warm under here."

Fifteen years ago when I was the church's Jr. Hi group leader the current phrase for "mean" or "nasty" or "unhappy" was

    "tight".

So if I chewed out a kid for raising Cain on the church ski trip, I got told "That's tight".

WHAT-evuh. The guy liked the kilt. Works for me.

...and now, "tight" is a good thing!

You remind me of some of the slang of my misspent youth...I sometimes feel that Anthony Burgess should have been eavesdropping on us.

The expression "let me tighten you up" first meant to repay a sum of money that you had borrowed or pay someone what you owed them for a quantity of *ahem* "oregano" that they had given you on credit. The expression late evolved to mean handing someone one of the beers out of your stash or topping off their glass of alcoholic beverage.

Real difficult to tell the time period that I grew up in, huh?

And something that was really, really good was "tuff"...and that one hung around for many years...usually in reference to a ride or a scooter...excuse me, a car or a motorcycle....I can't think how many times I've showed my age by saying "nice scooter" to someone with a hot bike and having them be offended by my refering to their bike as a "scooter"...young people today!

Having been called scooter trash and worse, I discovered it is same thing as whenf olks gave me a mean look when wearing my kilt. I just don't care.

My children have said the new computer is phat and broadband is tight, but if I keep going to Rocklands and Urban BBQ my I will be fat(ter) and the kilt will be tight.

My wife has said something out to me I must share. We walk and hike around a fair amount and when folks walk towards us the men tend to look everywhere but the at the man in the kilt and his wife. But i'm cool l with that homey.

I was in high school from '74-'78, & we used the word "fine" for good things. So to me, all you kilted men are "fine." :-D

I read that "tight" comes from the publishing/graphics industry, & referred to the desired look of the type on the page. So if something is "tight," it's good. I have no idea if this is true or not.
