Nick, I think I have missed something here (but I've missed quite a few threads and posts in the past couple of weeks).

I am sorry to hear about your need for being prescribed expensive medication, and can sympathise to a certain extent. Two weeks ago I was also put on pain-killing and anti-inflamatory tablets which means that I too have been obliged to refrain from alcohol all through the Christmas period and also forward into mid-January.

Fortunately for me, because I am over 60 the medication comes 'free' courtesy of our National Health Service - not that it's really free; I've been paying for this through personal taxation throughout my working life!

I wish you a speedy recovery and send all Good Wishes from this side of the pond for 2006.

Nick, I'm really sorry to hear about your medication and your fall. That's just horrible. But I so understand your situation. I hate it when the doctor's try a new medication to see if it will help with my pain. They never do and the only thing they manage to do is keep me away from Scotch -- And Scotch has been the only effective pain management technique so far!

And it seems every time my leg seems to be doing a bit better I have another fall. I've fallen down the stairs in my home 4 times this December so far. It's horrible.

So if you ever need an ear for venting, feel free to either email me or post here. I'm another completely sympathetic ear.

Hang tight, Nick. I'm so glad your head injury didn't put you in the hospital.
