With refund in hand I went with a USA Kilts casual kilt that I am pleased with - and it was completed ahead of schedule (in a matter of weeks, not months). I'm now trying to hand sew my own traditional kilt, but at the rate I'm progressing I might soon be envious of Bear's turnaround time!

The moderators removed the Kilt Reviews when another review started to get out of hand. It may very well have been a wise decision - the process of reviewing kilts and kiltmakers was prone to piling on. Kilts and kiltmakers can still be reviewed at XMarks, but there is no dedicated forum for doing so.

When you get your refund (and I expect that you will) you can try ANY number of the kilt manufacturers that are around now days... and there are MANY.

With the new Stillwater "heavy-weights" in the wools, you have a wonderful new alternative available. Steven at UtiliKilts is always ready and willing to supply you with a kilt that will last longer than most garments. Don't forget the rental shops and resellers too. You can get a "real" kilt for a little amount.

Don't languish on the negatives, but find this as an opportunity to invest in a kilt that was "meant to be".

There are alot of good kiltmakers out there.
Bear must be selling kilts to have such wait times.
Most small buisnesses can't pay out for rent and expenses and try to make money to make ends meet. You need to sell a lot of kilts to pay bills and make some money on the side.
We all have choices and we have to make them. If you know it will take awhile to get a Bear than wait or go elsewhere.
I think we have been through this all before.

Umm, with all respect kilted Stuart, think if you read Mark's post you'll see that he paid $300 for a kilt over a year ago. The website says over a six month wait, and it appears from Mark's posting of the sequence of things he has been a LOT more patient than most of us could be laying out $300 in advance then waiting a year for a product. Even knowing he's waiting for the work of a craftsman.

From the sequence it appears that he's received, at best, overly creative reasons for the delay.

He has concern that the craftsman is even in business...a fair question when postings to his blog have stopped, postings to this board have stopped, and his shop is now vacant with only the guess that "maybe" he's working at home.

How does the guy call an empty shop after his email's are not returned. Hopefully, someone on the board from the area, or who knows Bear, will be able to help Mark figure out if he's just got longer to wait, or if Bear's able to refund his $300, or if he should just accept that the $300 is gone.

Right now, Mark knows no more about his $300 than when he first posted, his first post to this board. Hopefully, we can help him somehow.

And of course we all hope Bear's okay and still cranking out kilts...but no one seems to know for sure.

Think there's been plenty of patience shown, some information about what is going on would be helpful.

I tried calling his cell phone and he's not answering that either... I hope he's OK.

Anyone know if he is posting on Bravehearts or any other forums? I know he hasn't posted on kiltreview.

I hope he hasn't collapsed under a ton of orders, I nearly did prior to xmas, and I'm on a much needed break.

I hope you get either your money or your kilt soon. It doesn't sound promising though and that's too bad. I was kind of thinking about the macbitseach tartan

I haven't seen Bear posting anywhere. This is actually rather worrying. I hope nothing has happened to him.
