It's great you wore it to work today, and I really like the idea of going kilted to class!

Phil,
I'm always interested in reading about the experiences of others as they venture out in public kilted. Women seem to pay the most attention, and seem to be in the majority of those that will complement you on your kilt. I have gotten compliments from men, but usually they will just look at not say anything.
It's just my own theory, but I think many of the men that see you kilted admire your courage, and wish that they had the courage to do the same.
Will you also wear your kilts when classes start? I think you would find your students receptive to the kilt. There was an article that I read several months ago, about a school in the US that decided to have all the teachers wear kilts for a week - both male and female instructors. I can't remember, but I think it was at the middle school level. Anyway, they found the student attendance improved, grades went up, and the students were more attentive in class.

I'd like to wear my kilt for the first class session of each course I teach and then later - as the spirit moves me. I don't want to overthink this thing - but I need to remember the class is about student success - not "Phil in a kilt." Did I mention I could be overthinking this thing?

Quick Update
I came to work in pants today - got some messy stuff to get done. My boss looked at me and said "What, no kilt????" I told her I was planning to wear it to the first day of classes, she said "Oh - absolutely!"
I guess that's that then...

If that's not supervisor approval, I don't know what is. Go for it!

Sounds like a good excuse to buy a UK Workman's. There were photo's in the UK Gallery of a photographer who used the hammer loops as tripod carriers and you should be able to work something out for lenses and other items. You might spawn a UK buying spree with your students

Congratulations! Been wearing mine to the office since last September and love it. Pretty mucha non-event for everyone here now.
Used to teach continuing education computer courses and would love to do so again, and I would definitely wear the kilt.
