Ron, the truth is that these guys are trying hard to catch up with post count. It's a waste of time of course, they will never catch me
As time goes on, I tend to reply only when I have something to say, I do try to keep my posts brief tho'.

Glassman stated it very well. That sort of validation is a big part of what this place is all about. Why else would we post pics or announce every time we acquire a new kilt?
Besides, which one of us has the right to determine that someone else's posts are valueless?

Robin brings up a point that I had not thought about and makes me more appreciative of the atta boy comments. While I fly by them thinking "post count", the truth may be wholey different. Some people, as Robin pointed out, verbalize their feelings and mean them, even if its just to say looking good.

Not sure exactly what people are agreeing and disagreeing with me about, but that's my confusing post. Probably could have said it a lot better, and of course missed the similar thread on off topic when I was out of town.
I certainly understand about the atta boys and welcomes on the congratulations and newcomer's sites.
What I'd "thought" I noticed is when there are focused topics on General Kilt Talk, Kilt Accessories, Contemporary Kilts, where there are focused questions or topics, that recently there seemed to me to be more sort of empty posts that didn't really address the issue....the "Hey, you're from Timbucktu, my grandmother was from Timbucktu too" posts, or "ain't it a shame" or "Ain't it great?" posts that add nothing to the initial post"
Sure, that's always gonna be there...just seemed to me the quantity and frequency of it had been increasing...just my opinion. I asked for a reality check and I got it.
Thanks,
Ron

Sometimes it's just a response of recognition, or a humorous response.
We all like to have fun.......
I just scan through them, and reset the thread for myself so I don't look at it as new again.....
But whatever!, This is probably one of the most congenial forums I've been on, let alone been part of, and this is why.
Do I get tired of what seems to be a "meaningless" response?
Of Course!
But even though I might not find meaning in the response, the poster may have just had an epiphany!
And it's always good when someone else "Gets It"!!!!

the whole life is made out of nuances. I can undertand Ron very well, if he's waiting for an answer and his post fills up with "attaboy"s.
But what's worse is to see your posts with zero answers. I've seen a lot of mine like this in other forums... and that discourages you enough to give up :-(
So those "attaboy" mean, at last, that someone has spent his time reading you. As far as to me is concerned, they are not such useless answers.

Well said Kiltado!
The validation responces and the confirmations are simple comments that woud happen if we were face to face and add a bit of humanity/reinforcement to a discourse. If you want the thread to stay strictly on the course set by the OP you will have some mighty boring threads here...
and yes i know this will be labeled as a useless post - but too bad!!!
ITS A KILT, G** D*** IT!

I mentioned this in the twenty questions thread, but here go's...
I think most of the useless posts are actually new threads about something discussed one or two threads down. How many threads do we need on pockets, what fabric weights are, etc? Maybe some of the folks who participate in these discussions could link new questioners to threads already in play or discussed by many others?
