I wore jeans and either cowboy boots or engineer boots most of my life. I never gave it much thought whether they were comfortable or not, I just knew I didn't feel comfortable in lighter weight pants or slacks. Once I decided to wear only kilts I found that jeans had been causing several discomforts that I had been overlooking. It's like when I was a kid and needed glasses. I didn't know it because I had no frame of reference, I thought everyone saw like that. Jeans were hurting me but I thought it was normal because I had no frame of reference. Now I only wear jeans if there is no other option.

Did not own a pair until freshman year in college. A friend took me to the mall, and convinced me to buy a pair of jeans. My first pair, Levi 501 blues button fly (still have them but dont fit--- i think they shrunk  ). I had always wore dress trousers, for school or corduroys for nonschool days. The first day i wore them to college, the professor asked if i was feeling ok? I said yes, i am ok why? She stated " well you have jeans on and no dress shirt! My friend was rolling in the isle laughing, and told her that he was the culprit as he took me to the mall shopping and picked out my clothes that I was wearing that day. We both had gone to private catholic schools, and this was our first public school system.

I still prefer dress trousers, corduroys or Khakis to jeans. I have a few pair, i actually prefer black jeans they tend to be more relaxed in feel, particularly where the sporran hangs.

I guess catholic school still has an effect on me, still prefer to wear shoes, have alot of them and only one pair of sneakers (the cheaper, the better). actually just took off my tie, had it on for over 12 hours, forgot i had it on.

I own one pair of blue jeans stiched by convicts in the Oregon prison system and one pair of Carhartts. They are both great for knocking through the brush.

Someone mentioned wearing pants when it gets cold... funny thing - I'm always warmer in kilt and hose than pants. It's been down around 18 - 20 degrees (F) lately and I'll be honest, I'd rather be kilted!
