I think that, as a costume, it looks great. I agree with MacMullen - very colonial, though I think the blousey shirt has a lot to do with that imppression. It's not something that I would wear as every day attire, however.

I like them and would be interested in buying both the shirt and waistcoat.
But I'm used to the style I've been doing 18th century reenacting for a lot of years and the people I hang out with consider it normal attire.
I'm an 18th century guy born into the 20th century and have been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

I love the vest Steve!!!! It looks very dressy, and with a matching outfit, it will do wonders. The shirt is a little too...big on the sleeves, kinda like a Jacobite shirt though.

Please remember guys, these are only prototypes.

The shirt has way too full a sleeve. We are cutting that down in version four.
The shoulders will also be narrower.

The main features we are going for are a full sleeve but not as full as a Jacobite. Everyone has those.

    A full length button front.

The hem of the shirt will be long. Very long. It comes to just an inch or so above the hem of the kilt. Shirt and j'dez underkilt in one.

There will be two versions. One with an oxford stand collar and one with the 'clergy' collar.

Fabrics will be linen and linen/Cotton blends.

I want something with a hint of history to it's look, but hate the 'jacobite' shirts that you see everywhere.

The vest is a historical waistcoat. In the next version we will change the length. Not as short as an argyle jacket 'cause that will not work with kilts worn lower, and not so long as to hide the pleats.

The shirts, and the vests, along with the 'Heritage Kilt Hose", The Contemporary kilt sport coat, and the Dress Model Kilt, with straps and buckles, will be what we will release as the 2006 model line.

As we get closer to the 1st of May I will keep everyone posted on the new line.

My wife, Bobbie is doing the work on the new accessories and I am working on the new kilt. Of course we still have orders to fill.

I'd be interested in the Heritage Hose, but I would need it in an extra long length. The low buck kilt hose that you can buy everywhere are a few inches too short for my extra long legs.

What kind of price point are you looking at for the hose? And, will you do custom lengths?

I like that vest a lot. That’s just the kind of thing I’ve been looking for. Kind of like the old Scottish working vests that I’ve seen in some old paintings.
    Those hose sound interesting too.
    Keep us posted.

    Two thoughts . . .

    1. I really like the colonial look, but don't know if I'd wear it for daily wear. I'm interested in seeing it with the sleeves cut down some, and I am definitely interested in hearing more about the kilt hose.
    2. Drat you, Steve!! More things to put on my wish list!!

Anybody have a credit card I can borrow for a couple of hours? I'll return it promptly!!

    Regards,
    Mark

Great piccies Steve, the style looks very American colonial, if that is the right term.
..not sure if it matches a kilt, as you say yourself, but the vest sure looks good. It goes well with the shirt.

I do so love old styles...think they're just fine today too. Interested in them all.

Got really spoiled by that Bridgedale Blaxnit Garland kilt hose that Sierra Trading had for a while. Really like the long length. Do keep us posted.

    Thanks for the creativity.
