Is anyone else here bothered by the fact that the ad posted beneath the first post here is to a site called "The Dark History of the Church: 7 Myths of Organized Religion"?

Well, when the thread rebooted after I made that last post, the ad was gone and replaced by something else.
Still, kind of took me by surprise to see an ad for such a potentially offensive site on my favorite kilt forum page.

Although I really don't see anything wrong with questioning the way things are, I agree that some may find that sort of thing unacceptable. then again, at one point, kilts were deemed unacceptable and people killed over them. All depends on how open minded the audience is, and how willing someone is to accepting that someone else may have a different point of view, even if it isn't the popularly accepted one.
And without trying to stray too far into a religious rant, living in Tulsa, Oklahoma has taught me that there is a huge difference between religion and faith.
If anyone wants to discuss this issue, we can talk about it on my site, kiltsrock.com, or just send me a pm, as this is not the proper forum for such a conversation.

This isn't about "questioning the way things are" or me worrying about posting something that might potentially offend someone.
A fellow forum member here has posted about wearing his kilt while serving at his church, and Google sticks an ad right underneath of it that proclaiming the "dark history" of organized religion. It just seems rude, for lack of a better term.
If a member of the forum posted the same information, they'd get penalized for it. "No religious postings" is one of the rules we operate by here on this forum, so it just seems a little off that ads for products attacking religion (either someone's religion in particular, or religion in general) should be allowed.
Is there any way to screen these Google ads that appear on the site? Or am I making too much of this?

I noticed the same thing also thought about the ad but Life is to short to worry about it and it was gone when I went back after reading your post.
and besides;
I did click it and it is more about dogma than faith.

I can still see the ad. I was going to question it too. An occassional mention of church or religion (i.e. "I wore my kilt to church" or "I'll pray for you") seems innocent enough but this ad had a very negative tone. I was a little surprised to see it given the rules here. I don't know if there's anything that can be done about it and I do try to take a "sticks and stones" approach. It was just really weird to see that.

The Adsense bots are just looking for keywords that might fit up to their advertisers' profiles. As a thread matures and progresses, the ads will typically change along with the thread.
Our Webbie may want to consider some filtering with Google, to prevent this type of ad from appearing.

I saw that ad too, but I just ignored it. Obviously not something I'd be interested in.
And thanks for everyone's compliments. I'll let you know how it goes on Sunday when I serve again.
