Yes and No, have a read of http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=17023 it is a great shop to visit, but I just don't find it feasible to purchase the bigger ticket items. They are a great niche market for the dancers and pipers around, that is for sure. Of course it is owned by a Dance teacher and managed by a Pipe major ;-)

This puts the raw/top edge of the hose on the inside of the fold next to the garter, not on the outside at the top, as I think I understand from Hamish's description.
Maybe I misunderstood Hamish, but what I think I understood him to describe would put the wrong side of the hose on the outside. All of the hose that we have are meant to be rolled at the top, so the inside of the top of the hose is actually the "right" side.

This is difficult to describe without the aid of a diagram (and I do not have the ability to provide one here) but, sorry Barb, my method of a down fold and an up fold (!) keeps the 'right' side of the decorative top on the outside. A single down fold puts the wrong side of the top on the outside. I have just had a good look at the many pairs of hose stored in my chest-of-drawers and, in every case, the correct side of the decoration is already on the outside - not that there is much of a difference!
I understand what you say about the pipers' hose, but my ordinary kilt hose is not constructed like that.
Also, none of my hose can be pulled up higher than the top of my knee-cap - certainly no-where near my thigh - and I have it from a number of different sources. I'd suggest that pipers' hose is designed differently to ordinary day-to-day kilt hose.
Does anyone else have any observations on this?

I'm with Barb. It would look stange to have the open end of the hose pointing up.
Unless I'm misunderstanding what both of you are talking about.
I can only fold mine down once, anyway.

Hamish,
Yep, piper's hose is different. I have a couple pairs in dark bottle green. The bobble top is about 12" long. So, even I with my fairly chunky legs can get them over my knees before I fold them down over the flashes... My other pairs are usually worn with one fold, since the turnover looks too skimpy otherwise.

If someone offers me a free pair of kilt hose, I'll never turn them down! Sorry, it's way to late at night.
