I have been known to blast the Real McKenzies at work, those raised on cowboy music have a difficult time appreciating the finer points of punk and the pipes

Real McKenzies are CRAZY punk rock and roll guys who LOVE SCOTLAND, Robert Burns, bagpipes and Kilts.
Yes... we make Scruffy's kilts in DKM. He's a friend of mine. He and his wife Rae live up in Calgary, right near Matt "McNasty" (bagpiper) from the Real McKenzies. Scruffy and he hang out a lot and Scruffy introduced me to him.
If you have a chance, buy the Real McKenzie "Pissed to the Gills: A drunken live tribute to Robbie Burns" DVD (has a bunch more stuff than the Music CD of the same name). It is a RIOT!

They're Canadian?
Well, I'll be plum jiggered.
Though that could explain why the lead singer on the live album mentions "Glasgie" in reference to Glasgow.
For some reason, no North American has ever heard of Glesga.

A friend just turned me on to the Real McKenzies.....bought me the CD
with them lifting the bottle like a flag on the cover.
Wow, great stuff. It's a bit 'punker' than I usually listen to, but I LIKE it
a lot. Love their punk take on "Farewell to Nova Scotia".
Good stuff.

Ha hah... these guys are awesome. Just fun music... I tend to favor their self titled, and 10,000 Shots. They seem like they'd be a fun rowdy show to go to. Cool gig on linking up w/ them for business Rocky.

I know this is an old thread, but since it got bumped, I just thought I'd toss it out there that I'm a fan of TKM. In fact, my entrance music is "The Night The Lights Went Out In Scotland" off of their Oot and Aboot album, I believe.

I just went to one of their shows on Thursday night. It was amazing. Paul McKenzie is a really nice guy as well. Their new album (Off the Leash) is fantastic.
