I think I'd leave the flashes off, since a UK isn't Scottish, so it doesn't need to have the flashes. I'd also be more tempted to team a black survival with black kilt hose (or just black knee socks - don't even have to have a turnover or be as thick as kilt hose - the important thing is that they come to the knee, that's all). Off-white is a bit too much of a contrast for the black survival. Maybe a gray or brown shirt to go along with it. Talk it over with your wife, with respect to the shirt combination.

Hamish gave me the following advice:
"If you must wear flashes with a Utilikilt (!) try matching the kilt colour"
I would go with the off white kilt hose, black flashes, black shoes (but not dress shoes), and a light colored shirt to tie in the hose with the black UK.
That's my advice

When I got my all black heavyweight, the kilt supplier included a pair of black flashes to match, although I only ever wear the flashes on a formal occasion.

I like the looks of grey hose with black flashes with a black or grey kilt. Just my preferences. I found two plain grey ties at Wal-Mart that go well with my black Argyll jacket, too.

If you have one, I sugeest wearing a fisherman sweater with your kilt. I have a black Mocker and wear my fisherman...it's one of my wife's favorite outfits for me to wear
Another option is to wear a Jacobite shirt

What is a fisherman's sweater? I usually don't like to wear sweaters as I get way too warm in them. We'll be going out to eat after and I it would be warm at Red Lobster too.

Mine was hand made by my wife so I get extra brownie points for wearing it

I'm with Rigged, that kilt hose look a bit odd with a UK (unless the temp. is in the single figures). That said, I think I would wear the off white pair folded neatly down to the boot tops, as Ham does.

My wife has a choral group she is singing in on Saturday night and I was wondering what to wear? It is not a real dress up affair, but I just want to look nice.
As an occasional choral singer who enjoys being on either side of the proscenium, my opinion is that you can never wear too much black to a concert.

I would also consider removing the outside pockets. I think the cargo pockets lower the look to "casual;" without them, it moves up to "casual dress."
