Email him. Matts email address is part of his profile here on this forum. I'd be nearly positive that he has the tartan available in several different weights. I've been to his store at the Tartans Museum and hwe has at least 6 different tartan books from the mills with which he deals.

    Minnesota Tartan...

I know the designer of both Minnesota tartans, Mark Osweiler -- he also designed the Iowa and Iowa Dress tartans (see my avatar for the Iowa tartan) -- Here is some more information on both:

My advice would be to talk to Matt as well -- when I have my Iowa tartan kilt made, it will be through Matt. I like the idea of supporting someone who has given so much in regards to research and education to the Scottish-American community.

    Cheers,

    Todd

People have been asking so I'll post it here:

For cloth orders, the *minimum* run is 4 yards of singel width cloth (28" wide) which I can get in either a heavy weight or light weight cloth for $65 per yard.

If you want 10 yards or more, I can get double width cloth, from various mills, in various weights, at various prices (depending upon the weight you want and the quantity you are ordering -- obviously the more you order the less expensive per yard it becomes).

If someone is looking to get a single kilt made, I highly recommend the box pleated kilt for custom woven tartans, as it helps keep the price reasonable. With only 4 yards of cloth to order, I can make a kilt for you (cloth + tailoring cost) for $480, which is still less than a lot of typical 8 yard kilts in standard tartans. It's a great way of having a kilt made in a hard-to-find tartan without breaking the bank, or having to go in with a lot of other guys on kilt orders.

    Aye,
    Matt
