It's a serrated plastic edge. I wouldn't try cutting mountaineering rope with it, but it's reasonably sharp. Makes one heck of a box cutter.

The edge can be resharpened with an emery board, too. I wouldn't imagine that it'll keep an edge for long.

Amazon sells three-packs for $25.71. Try a search on Amazon for "FGX".

For about $10 or so they are OK. I pack the tanto model for emergencies in my kayak or canoe when on the water instead of a good knife. I believe mine is the older Zytel material. Certainly not the durability of metal but if I only need it once it will be worth having.

    Cheers! Bill

The problem is that when you start excluding certain groups of people, no matter how sensible, somebody starts screaming about profiling. It's just the way it is.

Plus, the people who want to do harm get wise: "Hey, they don't check (certain group) for security reasons! Let's get a member of (certain group) to blow up an airplane! They won't check the guy! Perfect!"

Personally, I consider profiling a legitimate tool for law enforcement. I know lots of folks disagree with me but, for example, young middleeastern males are the vast majority of bombers why search Swedish grandmothers and pass those young middleeastern males? Profiling simply indicates who to focus on the most. Others can be checked whenever something out of the ordinary shows up.
