Darn, Darn, Darn! I was trying to buy a black and gold kilt when Jeff started his other job and so I waited for his return. I wish the best for Jeff in his new job and the best for his family.
Is there any kilt maker out there taking up the slack who can make a black and gold kilt? If so please let me know so I can spend the money I was holding for Jeff.

I wish Jeff all the best. It is a shame though as he made a quality product. As ByDand brought up, Jeff made some unique products, like the two tone kilt, and it would be great if another kiltmaker could pick up those concepts.

I just heard back from Jeff (sent him and email yesterday) and he's out for good. He was a stand up guy with a quality product. He'll be missed.
I wish him continued success in his REAL money making IT job... and I thanked him for the kind words and link.

Jeff didn't just make two tone kilts....he did a "three tone" kilt for me.
Asked if he could make something along the lines of the Arizona State Flag.
He did an incredible job coming up with a beautiful royal blue kilt with alternating gold and red underpleats.
Its a BIG loss of a man willing to do custom kilt work who was also VERY good at it. Wish him success.
If the pics don't show for you they're on page one of my gallery.

I hated to see Jeff get out of the kilt business. I never got a chance to buy one. I've used some of the kilt building instructions he left us in my recent creation. Does anyone know if he had any fabric left over?

Those look to be very interesting kilts, as the combination of the heavy material for the outer strip and then a lighter weight inner pleat resolves some of the problems with sewing all the layers, and the bulk when using a sturdy cotton for the whole pleat.
Yes - I think that kiltmaking has lost a gem.

Jeff, I don't think any one of us would ask you to give up a lucrative job and come back to kiltmaking at the expense of your family. Most of us know what a sacrifice it is to make quality kilts at affordable prices but I hope you are reading this thread - and know that you are appreciated.
When you look around at this group and what's been said - that is high praise indeed.
Guid oin ya and good luck!

Aw, you guys are making me blush.
Thank you all for your good wishes. I do love programming, but I'll tell you -- the appreciation I receive from end users has never come CLOSE to what I got from the kilt making! It was a wonderfully rewarding occupation, and I'm truly grateful to my customers.
Regarding the pocket on the inner apron -- I think everyone should add them to their own kilts! Ask your kilt maker to send a scrap along with your kilt, or just use a hunk of black fabric. Sew it down on 3 sides. Tain't rocket science! Optionally, I'm sure Steve or Rocky would be glad to add them to the kilts you order from them, for a couple bucks. Right, guys?

Welcome back Jeff! I am sure the other kilt makers will add the pocket for anyone who needs or wants it. Now, is there anyway, bribes, begging etc... that we can talk someone into making the two or three tone kilts that you did so well?
