Don't worry. It will come out just fine. Even without a mask, skunk fur is still striking, and the tail can still be offset on the flap. In fact, offset it to the side opposite your dominant hand, so when you reach into the sporran you're not fighting with the tail.

One other item, I've not used closing mechanisms or fasteners on these sporrans. The flaps are made from old, pliable purse leather, and when weighted with fur, masks, tails, or clan badges, or anything, gravity keeps everything inside just fine (even though gravity can be a mixed blessing sometimes...)

The pattern is called Champs check. Use the french pronunciation, though. This particular piece is woven cotton picked up on eBay years ago.

    Skunk

I've made three skunk sporrans. I, however, have left the head off and made the stripes to be the central element.

This is the sporran I ordered from Highland Tide.

It looks cool, but is next to useless for carrying anything more than a thin wallet. But then I didn't buy it for capacity.

The head on mine is not aceptable for use on the sporan. So any other pictures without the mask/head would be appreciated.

It's a drag about the head but I'm sure that the fur will be instantly recognized as skunk...it'll still be a success and you may get a better specimen to work with in the future.
