Never seen a fringe on the hemline but almost all kilts have a fringe down the right-hand edge of the apron. Indeed when I went to collect my new Spirit of Scotland a few weeks ago wearing my Dark Island 5-yard which has a double fringe on the apron and which I had bought over the net, our local kiltmaker pointed out that all his kilts are TRIPLE fringed!

    Hi Hermann,

It IS indeed a very nice one and is probably my smartest day-sporran. It came from www.leathersporrans.co.uk in Scotland, who have a number of very good-looking and slightly unusual sporrans for all occasions.

Do you think he may have borrowed it from her? (I'll assume it's a her.)

    Cheers! Bill

What kilt? After convincing myself that the gal in the background was wearing a bathing suit, I unfocussed my eyes and saw the guy in front of her wrapped in something akin to a comforter. Is that temerity or simple lack of knowledge.

I sometimes think that if somebody wanted a kilt badly enough that they would wear something like that, then all they really need is a gentle push in the right direction from the likes of us. There's enough cheapie kilts available now that tablecloths can stay safely folded with the rest of the linens!
