Welcome to the forum. Enjoy the kilt. Feel comfortable. When you first wear a kilt it does feel different. It is not a pair of pants. I think you may feel "insecure" without the constriction and tightness on the legs, but fairly quickly you will realize that the kilt is very "safe" and you are not in danger of flashing or revealing too much. It seems to me that a knee length kilt shows far less than most men's shorts. Explore the forum and you will find all kinds of helpful tips about how to wear a kilt, how to sit in a kilt etc. As to non-kilt wearers . . . enjoy the mystery!

Welcome from the Windy city!
And black speedos or the functional equivalent is a great solution. Until you realize with experience, that it is really very hard for anybody to see much under the kilt in almost all situations unless the wearer, or a helpful lass, completely lifts the kilt up.

Ummm, "Too Horrendous" here...
Kilts offer men a freedom long denied in modern society. I enjoy reveling in that freedom. But I ain't stupid. When I'm in a situation where "exposure" might occur - or where unexpected exposure could have grave consequences I wear something under my kilt.
My own personal choice has been the cheapo tartan boxers from WalMarche'.
Reason, they're so loose its still a LOT of freedom...and an accidental exposure gives a tartan look. God! Am I compulsive or what, just realized I coordinate the boxer tartan color to the kilt tartan color when wearing a tartan kilt. Them boxers are so cheap, and they come in three packs....
What's weird to me is that back when I was wearing pants too from time to time, after wearing kilts for a while, when I wore pants, I actually felt "exposed" Like I was wearing tights and my package was there for all to see...and with pants, it often is.
I actually find kilts a more modest garment than pants for that reason. Just had to get used to wearing them.
And, you need more than one kilt. Get to doing some research on this board then get to shopping!

I'll have to agree with your statements Ron. I feel far more "concealed" in a kilt regimental than with pants on. Feels like everything is on display with little more than a thickness or two of cheap cotton cloth between me and the world..need some heavy wool and a sporran there..

Unless of course, you're fighting Edward's army, in which case, baring all is perfectly acceptable.

Welcome to the board.
IMHO just go regimental and get used to the freedom. Unless you are getting especially wild dancing at the party no one is going to see the package, and if they do good one on them. I'm with Ham in that I don't like boxers with the kilt, but speedos, why would you want to punish the boys jamming them up like that.
Other than the speedos Robin has good advice

A SpeedoŽ under a kilt is anything but revealing. But welcome to the asylum, anyway.
