Welcome to XMarks, and congratulations on your first kilt purchase. I have a black UK Mocker as well, and like it very much.

Thanks for the warm welcome from everyone.
And thank you MacWage for the correction, all help with the 'local' terminology is much welcome.

My surname is Lewis. There were several people of Scottish descent at the local Highland Games who told me I couldn't be Scot with this surname that I was Welsh. But I immediately turned them to the Lewis' who were originally 'McLeod of Lewis' branch of the McLeod clan ... so I could be one of this family. But my folks can't/won't trace their heritage beyond their grandparents.

Actually I didn't even know about the train until I went looking for flyingscotsman.com as my own web address and found someone else had it.
The name came about when I was trying to come up with a name for my mobile DJ business. When I decided my 'gag' would be to wear a kilt to all my gigs it seemed natural to give it a Scottish sounding name ... So the 'Flying Scotsman Sound and Light Company' was born.

Welcome from Phoenix! I only have one UK original and I love it. I only received my kilt a little under a week ago but I have been posting here since I ordered it. I switched my order so I could get something in stock and I STILL felt it took way too long to get it. I'm not at all patient either.
Now I have three more kilts on order because I enjoy them so much but since I have one kilt already I'm not that concerned about when they will get here. Well....as long as they get here soon....
We have a few members in the Phoenix area and one in Page, AZ. Where in the state are you if I may ask? Will you be at the Highland Games in Flagstaff on Saturday and Sunday? Originally I was just going to be there for one day but my stay has been extended to two.
Phil in Phoenix.

Welcome aboard, Flying Scotsman. Whether or not you are a pure scot you will be welcome to wear a kilt. I have a model of the Flying Scotsman locomotive and been trying to get a ride behind the real one which is kept at the National Railway Museum at York. There is a photo of it in the York page on my website. The Flying Scotsman is also the name of one of the wilder and amusing eightsome reels sometimes performed at Scottish country dances. I think its possible a modern 20th century reel, named after the train, because after the lead couple have done their routine they "couple up" to the other three couples and lead them off like a train, in a very fast sidestep all the way to the nearest physical obstacle - so usually everyone ends up at the far wall of the village hall at the same time!
