It occured to me that most of the USMC tartan kilts I've seen at games have been worn by members of the Scottish American Military Society (SAMS). There are a lot of chapters with websites. You might find some pics on them.

If you go to this site http://docwalker.smugmug.com/keyword...tic/2/57086442
and go to the fifth photo, there is a shot of the backside of a leatherneck tartan I believe. The guy carrying the white flag in the middle.

Follow the guidelines on the Ball invitations. It is most likely Dinner/Mess Dress which would be a black tie affair. I am making the assumption you are a civilian now. If that is the case, wear your miniature medals on your left lapel. The PC jacket is very similar to the Navy and MC Mess Dress jacket. Position the medals as you would on that jacket. I do believe Alexis has some MC items on her site such as belt buckels and kilt pins.
I am retired Navy. Army civilian now. Missed the Navy ball this year due to surgery, but I will be attending the MC Ball in Nov also (Dad was a Marine).

Aye,
But I paid for that plus the leatherwork for the sheath. I'm happy. A good link for do it yourselfers.

Alexis Malcolm is the Queen of Kiltmakers. She made my wedding kilt, and it is a marvelous piece of work. Good on you for your choice!
